This is a crash course of the most important and useful terms.
- Plural: Having more than one person in a single body. (Synonym: Multiple)
- Headmate: Another person in the same system, used similarly to 'roommate.'
- Alter: A member of a system. Not short for 'alternate personality.'
- Fronting: Being in control of the body.
- Switching: Changing who's fronting.
- System: A group of beings that share one body.
- Singlet: Someone who is alone in their body.
- Frontrunner: Someone who fronts regularly.
- Host: The primary frontrunner. Not always the original.
- Ve: First-person group pronoun, like "we," but specifically does't include the listener instead of being ambiguous. Within the context of plurality, refers to the speaker and their system.
- Dissociative Identity Disorder: One of multiple diagnoses that fall under the umbrella of plurality.
- UDD/OSDD: A diagnosis with fewer or less severe symptoms than DID.
- Multiple Personality Disorder: An outdated diagnosis that's no longer given out.
